Aleph Tav Alert: Nahum

NAHUM

(Nachum)

Verse one identifies the author as Nahum and his name in Hebrew means Consoler or Comforter. The book was probably written approximately between 663 and 612 B.C. Nahum did not prophecy a warning or call to repentance the people of Nineveh because Elohim had already done this by sending them the prophet Jonah 150 years earlier which caused them to repent at that time but with a promise of what would happen if they turned back to their evil ways. Nahum was sent to the House of Judah to tell them not to despair because Elohim had pronounced judgment on the Assyrians and they would soon be getting what they deserved. Nahum’s prophecies came true in 612 B.C. There are many theories as to where the city was located. One such theory is that it was Capernaum, which means the village of Nahum on the Sea of Galilee.

Aleph/Tav ALERT: The Book of Nahum is only 3 short chapters and has only a total of 3 Aleph/Tav את Symbols. The first placement of the Aleph/Tav את Symbol in Nahum 2:2 is a promise from the Yah-head (יהוה את) to restore את excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel…as He promises also to destroy Nineveh in 3:11 Moreover את you shall be drunk; you shall be hid; also את you shall seek a stronghold because of the enemy…but 3:15 There shall the fire devour you; the sword shall cut you off…implying judgment from את Y’shua.
