JOEL
(Yoel)
The Book of Joel states the author was the Prophet Joel in the first verse. Joel’s name in Hebrew means Yah is El. The book was written approximately between 835 and 800 B.C. as Joel was called as a prophet to the House of Judah. During this time Israel is devastated by an invasion of locusts, which destroys everything from the fields of grain, vineyards, to the gardens and the trees. Joel claims the locust is divine judgment coming against the nation for their sins. Joel also prophesies about the outpouring of the Spirit of Elohim and is quoted by Peter in Acts 2 as having taken place at Pentecost.
Aleph/Tav את Used in JOEL: et אֶת 0 times, אֶת־ et- 12 times, אֵת eet 0 times, אֶת־ Et- 0 times, אֵת Eet 0 times, אָתְּ aat 0 time, אַתְּ at 0 times, אַתְּ־ at- 0 times, = Total 12
Vav/Aleph/Tav ואת Wa‘at וְאַתְּ 0 times, Wa‘eet וְאֵת 0 times, Wa‘et- וְאֶת־ 3 times = 3 Grand Total 15
Aleph/Tav ALERT: The Book of Joel is only 3 short chapters but has a total of 15 Aleph/Tav את Symbols. Although the first chapter does not have any Aleph/Tav את Symbols it is important to recognize where Joel places the first one in chapter 2 with a prophetic event that is linked to the timing of a great out pouring of Father’s Spirit in the last days in 2:28 And afterward it shall come to pass, that I will pour out את My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out את My Spirit…which begs the question, “after what”? The answer is in the place where Joel placed the first Aleph/Tav את Symbol, in 2:20 ואת the northern army I will remove far off from you and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, with את his face toward the eastern sea and its hinder part into the western sea; and its stench shall come up and its ill savor shall come up, because it has done monstrous things…23 Be glad then, you children of Zion and rejoice in ביהוה your Elohim; for He gives you את the former rain in just measure and He causes to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month…25 And I will restore to you את the years that the locust has eaten, the canker-worm and the caterpillar and the palmer-worm, My great army which I sent among you. 26 And you shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and shall praise את name of יהוה your Elohim that has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame…implying that this can only be a time after a great prophetic war where Israel shall emerge victorious and the Yah-head will pour out His Spirit on the survivors called the Later Rain.
