Aleph Tav Alert: Amos

AMOS

(Amos)

Verse one identifies the author as the Prophet Amos. The book was written approximately between 760 and 753 B.C. Amos name in Hebrew means Burden. He was called as a prophet to the northern kingdom, the House of Israel. At the time Elohim calls him Amos is a shepherd and a fruit picker from the Judean village of Tekoa and lacks an education or a priestly background. His messages of impending doom and captivity for the House of Israel because of her sins are largely unpopular and ignored because not since the days of Solomon have times been so good in Israel. Amos ministry takes place while Jeroboam II reigns over Israel and Uzziah reigns over Judah but his prophesies of doom are against the House of Judah as well and surrounding nations for sins Amos exposes rather uniquely.

Amos places the first Aleph/Tav את Symbol in 1:3 signifying the land of את Gilead east of the Jordan River as belonging to Israel (Manasseh and Rueben) and Amos is prophesying judgment from יהוה Father. The House of Judah is included in a warning as well in 2:4 So says יהוה: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment there; because they have rejected את Torah of יהוה and have not kept His statutes and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk: 5 But I will send a fire upon Judah and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem…then the House of Israel for profaning את Name in 2:6 So says יהוה for three transgressions of Israel and for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it; because they sold the righteous for silver and the poor for a pair of shoes; 7 that pants after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in to the same maid, to profane את Name, of the most holy…implying both Houses sin against the commandments of Torah…consequently, the Yah-head makes a vow in 3:1 Hear את word, this, that יהוה has spoken against you, O Children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, 2 you only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for את all your iniquities.

Amos 5:1 states, Hear you this את word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O House of Israel…5:6 Seek את יהוה and you shall live…implying to hear the word of את Y’shua and repent and seek the Yah-head the face of את Y’shua…5:11 Because therefore as you trample upon the poor and take exactions from him of wheat: you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink את wine there…for judgment is coming and 5:18 Woe to you that desire את day of יהוה! From this judgment shall come a time of 8:11 Surely, the days come, says Adonai יהוה, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing and obeying (Shema) את words of יהוה…which results in 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek את word of יהוה and shall not find it…and His judgment shall 9:8 See the eyes of Adonai יהוה are upon the sinful kingdom and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not destroy utterly את House of Jacob, says יהוה…9 For, lo, I will command and I will sift among all nations את House of Israel, as like corn is sifted in a sieve, yet will not the least grain fall upon the earth…but when the punishment is over the Yah-head promises to…11 In that day will I raise up את Tabernacle of David which has fallen and repair את breaches of it; and I will raise up his ruins and I will build it as in the days of old…12 That they may possess את remnant of Edom and of all the heathen, which are called by My name, says יהוה who does this thing…14 And I will bring again את captivity of My people of Israel and they will build the waste cities and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards and drink את wine of it; they will also make gardens and eat את fruit of them…15 And I will plant them upon their land and they will no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, says יהוה your Elohim…this prophecy is near to coming to fruition.
