Aleph Tav Alert: Job

JOB

(Iyov)

The Book of Job begins the Poetic Books of the Tanakh between Job and the Song of Solomon. The Book of Job does not specifically name its author but tradition points to the most likely candidates as Job, Elihu, Moses or Solomon. The name Job in Hebrew means persecuted or hated. The date of the authorship of the book could only be determined by who the author of the Book of Job would be and if Moses was the author, the date would be around 1440 B.C.; if Solomon, the date would be around 950 B.C. But because we don’t know the author, we cannot know the actual date of writing. The book helps us to understand that Satan cannot bring either financial or physical destruction upon us unless it is by Elohims divine permission. Suffering may sometimes be allowed in our lives to make restitution for sin, to purify, to test, to teach and ultimately strengthen our faith. The book makes a profound statement on the justice of Elohim in light of human suffering.

Aleph/Tav את Used in JOB: et אֶת 0 times, אֶת־ et- 28 times, אֵת eet 1 time, אֶת־ Et- 1 time, אֵת Eet 0 time, אָתְּ aat 0 times, אַתְּ at 0 times, אַתְּ־ at- 0 time, = Total 30

Vav/Aleph/Tav ואת Wa‘at וְאַתְּ 0 times, Wa‘eet וְאֵת 0 times, Wa‘et- וְאֶת־ 8 times = 8 Grand Total 38

Aleph/Tav ALERT: There are only 38 Aleph Tav’s את in a very lengthy and intensive 42 chapters of Job and there are many chapters where no Aleph Tav’s את are placed. So when the author places them there should be a very significant meaning for them. It is interesting to notice that every time Satan addresses the Yah-head he is addressing both את and יהוה  starting in 1:7 Then answered Satan את יהוה and said…and also in 1:9, 2:2, and 2:4. In the last chapter we see the order by which Job is blessed in Job 42:12 So יהוה blessed את latter end of Job more than his beginning. The very first time we see an את in front of Job’s name is when Satan is allowed to afflict him in Job 2:7 So Satan went forth from the presence of יהוה and struck את Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to his crown…signifying that to strike Job is indeed the same as striking את Y’shua, and it can only be done with יהוה permission, for this is the power of being in covenant with the Yah-head. Job questions why את does not take away his iniquity in Job 7: 21 And why do you not pardon my transgression and take away את my iniquity?

Then there are only two Vav/Aleph/Tav’s ואת in the next 22 chapters because apparently the dialog between Job and his friends does not merit any until Job 26:4 To את whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit came forth from you? Then the next Aleph Tav in Job 28:23 Elohim understands the way there and He knows את place there…this sounds prophetic. The Aleph Tav’s את start rolling in when את יהוה begin to start talking to Job starting in Job 38:1 Then answered יהוה את Job out of the whirlwind and said, 2 who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? And in Job 40:1 Moreover answered יהוה את Job and He said, 2 shall he that contend, contend with the Almighty? He that argues with Elohim let him answer it. 3 Then answered Job את יהוה and said, 4 surely, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand upon my mouth. 5 Once have I spoken and I will not answer; yes, twice, but I will proceed no further. 6 Then answered יהוה את Job out of the whirlwind and said, 7 gird up your loins now like a man: I will demand of you and declare you to Me…clearly showing the Yah-head as את יהוה working together as ONE, in ONE SPIRIT, which appear together for over another half-dozen times until the end of the book.
