Aleph Tav Alert: Zechariah

ZECHARIAH

(Zkharyah)

Verse one identifies the author as the Prophet Zechariah whose name in Hebrew means Yah remembers. The book was written in two primary parts, between 520 and 470 B.C. to the House of Judah and Zechariah was one of the ones who returned from Babylon to Jerusalem and he emphasized a tone of encouragement to the struggling Israelites trying to rebuild their temple. Zechariah was born in Babylon during the 70 years of exile and like Ezekiel and Jeremiah he was both a prophet and a priest and much of the prophetic events prophesied are yet to be fulfilled. Zechariah’s dated visions and messages in chapters (Zech 1–8) all take place in the same general time period as Haggais, beginning in 520 BC with a call for the people of Judah to repent (Zech 1:1). Though his final messages in chapters (Zech 9–14) go undated, the mention of Greece in (Zech 9:13) suggests the prophecies came much later in his life, presumably sometime in the 480 BC, before Ezra (458 BC) and Nehemiah (444 BC) arrived to again revitalize the Jewish people. The book of Zechariah contains the clearest and the largest number of messianic passages among the Minor Prophets. Zechariah pictures Y’shua our Messiah in both His first coming (Zech 9:9) and His second coming (Zech 9:10–10:12). Y’shua will come, according to Zechariah, as Savior, Judge, and ultimately, as the righteous King ruling His people from Jerusalem (Zech 14:8–9).

Aleph/Tav את Used in ZECHARIAH: et אֶת 0 times, אֶת־ et- 81 times, אֵת eet 3 times, אֶת־ Et- 0 times, אֵת Eet 0 times, אָתְּ aat 0 time, אַתְּ at 1 time, אַתְּ־ at- 0 times, = Total 85

Vav/Aleph/Tav ואת Wa‘at וְאַתְּ 0 times, Wa‘eet וְאֵת 1 time, Wa‘et- וְאֶת־ 6 times = 7 Grand Total 92

Aleph/Tav ALERT: The Book of Zechariah is 14 chapters and has a total of 92 Aleph/Tav את Symbols. The first Aleph/Tav את Symbol appears in 1:6 But My words and My statutes, which I commanded את My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? The placement of the Aleph/Tav את Symbol before the Angel of יהוה tells us this is Y’shua in a mediatorial (1 Tim 2:5) position in 1:11 And they answered את Angel of יהוה that stood among the myrtle-trees…and Y’shua goes on to prophecy to Y’hoshua the high priest in 3:6 And the Angel of יהוה admonished Y’hoshua, saying, 7 so says יהוה of Hosts; if you will walk in My ways and if את My charge, you will keep, then you will also judge את My house and will also keep את My courts and I will give you places to walk among these that stand by…8 for, see, I will bring forth את My servant the BRANCH…9 For see the stone that I have laid before Y’hoshua; upon one stone will be seven eyes: see, I will engrave the graving of it, says יהוה of Hosts and I will remove את the iniquity of that land in ONE DAY…what is amazing about this verse is the fact that this is clearly את Y’shua (the Angel of יהוה) speaking as the mouth of יהוה and He is giving a prophecy about how He will remove את iniquity of the land in one day, clearly speaking of Himself bearing our sins at Calvary…also by the placement of the Aleph/Tav את Symbol in verse 8 we can see it only confirms that את My servant the BRANCH is clearly את Y’shua.

Also in Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spoke to me, saying this is the word of יהוה to Zerubbabel, saying not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, says יהוה of Hosts…7 Who are you, O Great Mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain: and he will bring forth את the Headstone of it with shouting, crying, Grace, Grace to it…implying the Headstone is also symbolic of את Y’shua who comes for crying Grace, Grace TWICE! We see more symbolism in 4:10 For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice and shall see את the Plummet (plumb-line) in the hand of Zerubbabel; these are the eyes of יהוה, which run to and fro through the whole earth…implying the Plummet is the Symbol of the Spirit of את Y’shua (Yah-head) as seven eyes which search the whole earth as יהוה of Hosts in 5:4 and it shall enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name; and it shall abide in the midst of his house and shall consume it with ואת the timber there ואת the stones there…implying the Spirit of the Yah-head will search the world and bring judgment against those who sin against Elohim.

It is interesting to see how את Y’shua is associated with the SPIRIT in Zechariah 6:8 Then called He to me and spoke to me, saying, surely, they that go toward the North Country have quieted את My spirit (wrath) in the North Country. Zechariah crowns Y’hoshua, the High Priest as King, in similitude of את Y’shua Messiah, the BRANCH, who will come and be both a King and a High Priest upon his throne forever. 6:12 And speak to him, saying, so speaks יהוה of Hosts, saying, surely, the man whose name is the BRANCH (to sprout): and He shall grow up out of His place; and He shall build את the temple of יהוה; 13 even He shall build את the temple of יהוה; and He shall bear the glory and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and He shall be a priest upon His throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both…implying that Y’hoshua is a type and foreshadow of את Y’shua who, like Melchizedek (Gen 14:18) will be both a King and a High Priest (Isa 4:2; Jer 23:5; Heb 7:11-21) and shall build את the temple of יהוה.

Continuing in Zechariah 7:7 Should you not hear את the words which יהוה cried by the former prophets…7:12 Yes, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear את the Torah ואת the words which יהוה of Hosts had sent by His Spirit by the former prophets…8:7 So says יהוה of Hosts: Surely, I will save את My people…implying clearly that the Yah-head (את יהוה) works together as ONE by SPIRIT through the prophets. Zech 8:12…and I will cause to inherit את remnant of this people את all these things…8:21 and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, let us go speedily to entreat (pray) את before יהוה and to seek את יהוה of hosts 22 Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek את יהוה of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat (pray) את before יהוה…implying יהוה Father will accomplish these things through את Y’shua together by the workings of the Spirit of the Yah-head and those that seek יהוה Father, do so, through את Y’shua. Zech 11:10 And I took את My staff את Beauty (pleasant) and cut it asunder, that I might break את My covenant which I had made with את all the peoples…14 Then I cut asunder את staff, of my other, even את Bands (union), that I might break את the brotherhood between Judah and Israel…implying the Yah-head (את יהוה) will divorce the House of Israel and separate her from Judah.

Finally in Zechariah 12:2 Surely, I will make את Jerusalem a cup of trembling to all the peoples around them and upon Judah also shall it be in the siege against Jerusalem…12:4 In that day, says יהוה, I will kill every horse with terror and his rider with madness; and I will open את My eyes upon the House of Judah and will kill every horse of the peoples with blindness…12:6 In that day will I make את chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour on the right hand and on the left; את all the surrounding peoples around them and they of Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem…12:7 Also shall save יהוה את tents of Judah first, that the glory of the House of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not magnified above Judah…12:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy את all the nations that come against Jerusalem…14:2 For I will gather את all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken and the houses rifled and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city…12 And this shall be the plague with which will kill יהוה את all the peoples that have made war against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth…all these verses are speaking of a time of judgment by Yah-head (את יהוה) in the future when those nations that come against Israel shall meet their end by fire and Judah will be given victory by Elohim.
