Aleph Tav Alert: Lamentations

LAMENTATIONS

(Eikhah)

The Book of Lamentations does not explicitly identify its author but tradition is that the Prophet Jeremiah is the author and this is highly possible since Jeremiah witnessed the Babylonians destroying Jerusalem. The book was written approximately between 586 and 575 B.C., during or soon after Jerusalem’s destruction by the Babylonians who burned, plundered and destroyed the city of Jerusalem along with Solomon’s Temple, which had stood for approximately 400 years. Jeremiah was an eyewitness to all these events and he makes it very clear that both sin and rebellion were the causes of Elohim’s wrath being poured out through the invasion of the Babylonians, which lead to their captivity for 70 years. Jeremiah was also known as the “weeping prophet” because of his deep passion for his people and the city of Jerusalem, Lamentations 3:48-49.

Aleph/Tav ALERT: The Book of Lamentations is only 5 chapters with only 6 Aleph Tav את Symbols. But we see from the placement of the Aleph Tav את Symbols that יהוה Father through את Y’shua the Son (Yah-head) are working together as ONE bringing judgment and causing their suffering and bondage as restitution for their sin, yet they are still considered His covenant children as in Lam 1:1 Behold, O יהוה, את my affliction; for the enemy has magnified himself…1:19 My priests and my elders gave up the ghost (died) in the city, while they sought them food to refresh את their souls…and also in 2:1 How has covered with a cloud יהוה את daughter of Zion in His anger!…2:2 יהוה has swallowed up and has not pitied את all the habitations of Jacob…4:11 Has accomplished יהוה את His wrath, He has poured out His fierce anger…5:1 Remember, O יהוה, what is come upon us: Consider and see את our reproach.
