HOSEA
(Hosea)
The Book of Hosea begins the Minor Prophets in the Tanakh from Hosea through Malachi. Verse one identifies the author of the book as the Prophet Hosea whose name in Hebrew means salvation. It is Hosea’s personal account of his prophetic messages he delivered to the House of Israel. Hosea, the son of Beeri, prophesied from 785 to 725 B.C. and the book was written approximately between 755 and 725 B.C. Hosea’s life story is a rich metaphor displayed as a long-suffering husband who took back his unfaithful wife which was a direct reflection of the relationship of the Messiah and His sinful bride whom He would provide a way to receive her back and forgive her sins through His sacrifice at Calvary. This story has served as a constant reminder to the idolatrous actions of the Israelites, which eventually brought judgment upon the entire nation including the House of Judah.
Aleph/Tav את Used in HOSEA: et אֶת 0 times, אֶת־ et- 36 times, אֵת eet 0 times, אֶת־ Et- 0 times, אֵת Eet 0 times, אָתְּ aat 0 time, אַתְּ at 0 times, אַתְּ־ at- 0 times, = Total 36
Vav/Aleph/Tav ואת Wa‘at וְאַתְּ 0 times, Wa‘eet וְאֵת 1 time, Wa‘et- וְאֶת־ 6 times = 7 Grand Total 43
Aleph/Tav ALERT: The Book of Hosea is only 14 short chapters with only a total of 43 Aleph/Tav את Symbols. We see by the placement of the first Aleph/Tav את Symbol in 1:3 that יהוה Father spoke to Hosea to take back his wife את Gomer, who was an Israelite and not a gentile, whom he had divorced for her unfaithfulness. The children’s names paint a prophetic picture of what will happen to the House of Israel (10 northern tribes). In 1:4 the first child is named Jezreel (G-d will sow) as את Y’shua vows to, avenge את blood of Jezreel upon the House of Jehu (Yehu means Yah is He) and will cause the kingdom of the House of Israel to cease…implying את Y’shua will bring war and bloodshed against the House of Israel as judgment…continuing in 1:5 את Y’shua vows to, break את bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel (Armageddon). The second child is born in 1:6 and name Lo-ruhamah (not pitied)…implying Elohim will have no mercy on the House of Israel. 1:8 Now when she had weaned את Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and bore another son…1:9 with the given name Lo-ammi (not My people); for you are not My people and I will not be your Elohim…implying את Y’shua is going to divorce (Jer 3:8) the House of Israel and remove His TORAH from them and thus they will lose their identity and will be known as gentiles calling themselves in verse 10 “Sons of the Living Elohim” and as judgment will observe pagan rituals of worship.
The judgment is given by Elohim (Yah-head) in 2:4 ואת her children will I have no mercy; for they are children of whoredom…continued in 2:6 Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your את way with thorns and I will build את a wall against her, that she shall not find her paths…Elohim further promises in 2:11 I will also cause all her pleasure to cease, her feasts, her New Moons and her Sabbaths and all her solemn assemblies…implying that את Y’shua is vowing to restrict access to יהוה Father to the House of Israel and their descendants for Y’shua is the way and no man comes before Father except through Him…but as chapter 2 ends Elohim gives hope and promises in 2:20 I will even betroth you to Me in faithfulness; and you shall know את יהוה…implying that after the House of Israel has been punished and repents she will be forgiven and restored by the Yah-head…2:23 And I will sow her to Me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon את her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them that were not My people, אַתָּה you are My people; and they shall say, you are my Elohim.
Hosea 3:5 Afterward shall the Children of Israel return and seek את יהוה their Elohim ואת David their king and shall come with fear to יהוה and to His goodness in the latter days…implying a future time that verse 3:4 speaks of that, the Children of Israel shall abide many days without king and without prince and without sacrifice and without pillar and without ephod or teraphim…this is reminiscent of the Diaspora (exile). Hosea chapter 4 continues with why the judgment is coming in verse 10 And they shall eat and not have enough; they shall play the harlot and shall not increase; because את יהוה they have ceased taking heed to…implying the House of Israel has broken faith by worshipping other gods…5:4 for the spirit of whoredom is within them ואת יהוה they know not…5:6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek יהוה את; but they shall not find Him: He has withdrawn Himself from them…8:14 For Israel has forgotten את his Maker.
